heretic:
a person who differs in opinion from accepted or popular religious dogma.
Do you look at the modern Christian Church and sense that something just isn’t right?
Do the words of those who profess to follow Jesus seem oddly out of step with how they live their lives?
Are feel-good, self-help philosophies being offered as solutions to problems instead of pointing people to Jesus as the source of all healing and resolution?
Have you watched intellectual and theological gymnastics replace the truths Jesus taught?
Do you feel marginalized because of your pursuit of a close relationship with Jesus?
Do you see that Jesus’ call to discipleship is more about transformation than information?
Have religious rules, regulations, and traditions restricted your freedom to do all Jesus is calling you to do?
Are group activities and programs being emphasized over developing a close, personal walk with Jesus?
Do you see a widening gulf between the words of Jesus and the direction His Church is taking?
Maybe you are one of Jesus’ heretics?
If so, you do not walk alone.
It’s never been popular to follow Jesus—the world has always stood in opposition to Him. But we live in a day when walking with Jesus in the fullness of all He taught invites open contempt…even from those within the Church.
We should not be surprised.
The discipleship that Jesus calls us to is radically different from the accepted approach and practice of mainstream Christianity. Those who attempt such a walk are often labeled as heretics and banished to the margins of the Church.
And so, the script is flipped…
It is now these so-called heretics who follow Jesus no matter the cost, take Him at His word irrespective of difficulty or accepted convention, and prove their love for Him by actively submitting to His will in all things.
Heretics for Jesus exists to help you know and follow Jesus as He intended.
The resources found here point to Jesus as He has defined Himself in the pages of Scripture, not as others have imagined Him to be. The result is both refreshing and challenging.
